All talks will take place in the Harry C. Moore library on the University of The Bahamas, Oakes Field campus.

Getting to the Oakes Field campus

The University of The Bahamas, Oakes Field campus is located on the island of New Providence. Arrival by air is recommended via Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Car rentals are available at the airport as well as taxis.

If you are renting a car and at a hotel along West Bay Street, then take Nassau St. at the 3-way intersection of Nassau Street and West Bay Street. Drive 1.9 km and enter the main entrance to the University on the right. You can park near the library.

Accommodations

Numerous hotels are on the north side of the island. Prices change significantly based on time of year and availability. It is recommended that you book as early as possible.

The hotels and resorts on the North side of the island are the best locations to stay relative to the University. There are several hotels and resorts in the area. A few are listed below with the top two being relatively inexpensive options and convenient for traveling to and from the University.

Courtyard by Marriott - located near downtown/Junkanoo Beach.
Holiday Inn Express and Suites - located near downtown.
Atlantis Resort - located on Paradise Island. The Beach tower is the least expensive of the Atlantis towers and still provides access to the main resort. You will need to cross the toll bridge that connects New Providence and Paradise island.
Sandyport Beaches Resort - located near the Sandyport canals and is further away from the University relative to the other recommended hotels. You can take the #10 bus first to downtown, and then take the #10a bus from downtown to the University.

Travel

It is highly recommended that you do not walk to the University from your hotel.

The cheapest option is to take the #10a jitney bus from downtown (corner of Bay Street and Frederick Street) to the University. They are privately owned and operated vehicles that run on established geographic routes; most routes are $1.25 per person. Timing can be spotty. They begin running around 7am and stop around 6pm.

The taxis are also options, but they are more expensive. The prices are regulated by the Ministry of Transportation.

Rental car companies are also located at the airport.
